Good News! In this week's post, you'll read about:
* My Clearest Me ~ so this is what is happening ...
* New cover for Little Orchid ~ thanks to everyone who chipped in!
Some time ago, I decided to pull my first picture ebook, My Clearest Me, off all retailers. Here's why: Important! Don't Buy My Book.
Now that it is officially unavailable on Amazon, Kobo, B&N and all, I can finally offer it elsewhere.
I can finally offer it here.
You might have a few questions. I'll try my best at answering them:
Q: When you say "offer it here" ...
A: I mean readers will get to read My Clearest Me here (later in this blog post and over on MCM's webpage). They will get to read it for free.
Q: Oh. Free. Just like hundreds of authors are doing these days.
A: Yes, except I don't know if it's hundreds. Could be more ...
Q: Why free?
A: #1 -- I don't ever want to run the risk of letting silly technical/formatting errors ruin the work I've done. My other books are fine. MCM seems, curiously, jinxed when it comes to formatting into epub and mobi files. I'm quite done with those nightmares for this book. So I want to publish it right on CarryUsOff's website. I want people to read it immediately, and see Sarah's glorious illustrations, without having to go to a retailer.
#2 -- I want MCM to go farther, much, much farther, and reach more readers. If they enjoy my voice and style, they might give my other books a go, too.
Q: Ah, there's that, isn't there? The other books.
A: Always. (No harm done, and more stories to go around. :))
Q: So when you say "immediately" ...
A: Right here, right now. Enjoy! (Please read this on a computer. I don't know why but the pictures are all jumbled up in the mobile phone version ... )
Q: You're willing to give away this story like this?
A: To read and enjoy, yes! Please send anyone who might be interested in reading about Wynn over here. And please acknowledge that this publication is under CarryUsOff Books, written by me (Gueh Yanting, Claudine) and stunningly illustrated by Sarah Quek Rui Zhen. (Please do not distribute this anywhere without permission from CarryUsOff Books, though. All rights are still very much reserved!)
Q: Okay, so now ... you must want something in return. What is it? A review? Likes and follows on social media?
A: If you're willing! I'd like a comment and a brief review here. (Tell me, what is your clearest you like? I'm quiet and like to imagine that I'm braver than I possibly am. I like instrumental pieces, literary fiction, children's stories with quiet and strong characters, slightly sad films ~ yes, can't really explain, and tea. I can also be, unfortunately, rather petty sometimes, and it's something I'm working on fixing.)
As for the rest, a copied-and-pasted review onto Goodreads would be excellent. Likes and follows will be appreciated
if you don't feel like it, it's quite all right. Truly. In this lifetime, from now on, I want to welcome voices and sounds that will make me feel better and be better. All others that I don't need (no matter how nice or perhaps popular) are merely excess. So no worries, okay?
And now, on to my second piece of news (and promotion):
Thank you for reading! I hope you've enjoyed this week's post. Stay well, everyone.

Hey, I'm Claudine. Welcome!

by Kate Hanney
Really enjoyed the honest voice of this narrator ~ a teenager let down by his mother and the foster care system, and almost-picked up through his involvement with a gang.
