Good day, all ~
I'm happy to be celebrating a fellow-author's picture book release and hosting a giveaway this week. The author of Kailee Finds Magic IN Words, Allyn Stotz, is a friend from Children's Writers Retreat (of the Institute of Children's Literature) and her second picture book has recently been released. Congratulations, Allyn!
Here's what Kailee Finds Magic IN Words (as I'm sure we all do ... ) is about:
Kailee doesn't like to read. "Reading's boring!" she says. She'd rather play with her dolls or rock out on her drums. However, her mother wants her to practice reading. When Kailee finally picks up a book, there's a picture of running water that looks so real, she touches it. "My hand is wet!" she says. Suddenly, she ends up inside the book where she meets a chipmunk named Oliver. Together they go on a quest to find the Grand Garoogle. Kailee comes out realizing that words can take you on all kinds of magical adventures.
Book Giveaway (International)
Let's kick the giveaway off with this question:
Has any book left a magically sensory impression on you? (E.g. When children's author Karen Hesse described a character eating pickles in BROOKLYN BRIDGE, I felt my cheeks souring and eyes smarting ...)
Thanks for entering. Good luck, all!

Hey, I'm Claudine. Welcome!

Really enjoyed the honest voice of this narrator ~ a teenager let down by his mother and the foster care system, and almost-picked up through his involvement with a gang.
