Today I'm taking part in the My Most Beautiful Thing Blogsplash to celebrate inspirations from Fiona Robyn's new novel, The Most Beautiful Thing. Bloggers from all over the world are taking part and writing or posting pictures of their most beautiful things today. Find out more here and see everyone else's blog posts here.

If there’s anything I could contribute to a child from this stream of thoughts, it’s perhaps the  efforts of attempting difficult tasks of speaking to ourselves, (then as he/she grows up), of laying the past down, and stepping out.

  You. My Imaginary You.

I’m going to let us go.
Took me a while to realize
  I am a person, too.
Lost in a dream about us
  For more than twenty years
I pressed myself to stay asleep
Not waking up wasn’t too bad
  It was all I had,
  Or thought I did.

You and my imaginary you
  Held up the sky
I was never in any harm
You shielded me from drugs and destruction
I just forgot about the trees
  I hardly heard the sea
  Or the swallows, is all.
  Grey clouds meant nothing,
  Nothing more than a smirk.

And all these that I’d neglected
Are now part of the beautiful treasure
  My heart seeks,
  And finds.
  My heart breathes in,
  And sighs.
My dear heart has been ready to let us go.
  And we must
Let go.

You and your real you will be fine.
Me and my clear me will trust that.
I shall still think about you
And worry a bit about you
  But not everyday
Just sometimes in the remaining lifetime.
My world was quietly heroic because of you
I want to keep ‘Thank you’ in my heart
So it won’t sound like a roaring ‘Goodbye.’

I’m going to let us go.
But I’m not going to let them die.
  I’m cleaning out my house
So the smell of grass and soil can swim in.
So I won’t feed on shadows forever.
I’m learning to hold up my own sky.
(Don’t worry, we’ll all be fine.)
The minute you are ready, too,
  Breathe. See. Love.
  Stay safe. Be healthy.

I’ll see you on our brief sometimes,
  My imaginary you.
Then I’ll tell you about the new things I’ve done
  Without
  You.
  Don’t be sad.
  Don’t be scared.
  We’ll all be fine,

And finally alive.

What is your most beautiful thing? (It can be your daughter’s smile, a favourite poem, a bout of silence, climbing a mountain, meeting someone special …)
I'd love to hear from you. And please remember to check out Fiona's book:
The Most Beautiful Thing

This is beautiful! Thanks for sharing! Why don't you check out mine, too! :-) I'll be adding your link to my favorites here in my laptop. I have another blog http://journeytoachildsheart.blogspot.com It's about my writing journey. Maybe someday I can start writing again children's stories.

Mine is my daughter and her beautiful laugh. That's the most beautiful sound in the world and her face lights up, too, so it's the most beautiful sight, too. :D

Sounds amazing, Kelly. A child's laughter can blaze away any gloom. (And I had the feeling you would write about your daughter. :) )

This poem is soooo beautiful, Claudine. I want to read it over and over. Thanks so much for sharing it here.

My most beautiful thing is spending time with my husband and our two daughters. It just feels like all is right with the world when we are all together.

You just made me cry. What beautiful words. My most beautiful thing is my little granddaughter, just hearing her laugh makes me smile for the rest of the day. (thank goodness for You Tube - pictures and sound!)

Barbara, sorry to have made you cry. I was telling another blogger on FB that writing this post gave me internal bleeding. Your granddaughter is beautiful. Children's clear, crisp laughter is fairy dust. Are there videos of her?

Hope she enjoys it, Katie. Thanks for sharing it around. (I was a little worried about calling it a poem, because it was just a flow of thoughts and I wasn't able to put it in any form or metre. But ... ah, what the heck, I like flow of thoughts.) Thanks for coming by!

How wonderful! Truly beautiful! I need to put some thought to my most beautiful thing. Probably the feeling of having my dog (and the one we have lost:( ) greet me at the door every day when I come home. They are like a child, no one could be happier to see you. It doesn't matter what you've done, or haven't done, they love you and are thrilled that you are with them and giving them love. I guess I don't have to think about it, that's it. Thanks for sharing Claudine and best success to you Fiona:)

Paul, I love your most beautiful thing. Pets are like children. (Sometimes I think children might not like us much at all times, but pets accept and embrace us no matter what happens.) They are truly precious. Thank you for reading & leaving your thoughts on this!

Ah, Anne, you fellow wonderful person, you. :) Good health brings precious beauty. There's so much to enjoy and we all want to enjoy them without pain/misery. You know, I never really appreciated being alive to the things around me in the past. What a shame. (Not too late to start now, fortunately.)

That's a lovely poem, Claudine. It made me think of several relationships I've had. ;)

My most beautiful thing would be standing, eyes closed, to let the sun sink into my skin. Or maybe standing out in a storm to feel the wind whipping around me and the thunder roaring. Maybe I should just say experiencing nature is my most beautiful thing.

Experiencing Nature IS beautiful, Ellen. Soft sun sinking into our skin ~ I love that. I'm terrified of thunderstorms, but I love feeling wind on my arms and face. What pretty images. Thank you for sharing them.

Your spirit floats above the clouds--releasing the gentlest, clearest, sweetest-tasting rain. I just downloaded your precious book to cherish, to remember about staying true, and-of course-to share with my children. Your poem is beautiful, and I will send your link off to a friend whose journey will be enriched by it. Beautiful work. Beautiful you.

Wow, you knocked my socks off with that beautiful poem!

I have many "most beautiful" things but on top of the list would be seeing my happy, silly dogs everyday, especially when they cuddle up to me. And also on top of that list is seeing a child laugh with excitement! Especially after reading my book!

Allyn, your happy, silly dogs sound great. Animals are precious creatures, and their love for us can be so powerful. You're right, too, on seeing a child laugh/smile. Reading 'The Pea in Peanut Butter' would make them giggle throughout the story!

I neglected to list my most beautiful thing: eye contact with any of my children or grandchildren-especially in those quiet, unexpected moments when time stops, neither of us looks away, and our souls touch, reminding me of our boundless love for each other...and the way that we will always be connected.

There are so many things of beauty in this world - this morning I saw a huge spiders web covered in raindrops that were glittering in a rare moment when the sun shone through the clouds, how beautiful that was.

Beautiful! Loved this ... my most beautiful moment ( on Wednesday) was an email from an agent asking for pages) but if life, it;s when I am sitting somewhere with my family and we start playing the music game.. we listen to music, try to guess who it is, laugh and cry, talk and simply be. It's a silly game but seeing everyone's face light up when they laugh or their brows furrow trying to figure out who is singing. silly fun.

Brenda, congrats on the agent enquiry! I think there are many greats (Seuss, Silverstein ...) out there who would agree that silly fun is the best kind of fun. Watching loved ones laugh is a beautiful thing. :)
